About :: Structure

The structure of the Free Grace Alliance is probably as important as its unique purpose.

When we say "structure" we mean the relationship of the parts such that they create a way of functioning, or a path of least resistance. Structures dictate the way of operating, or the way of behaving. Just as the structure of a sentence or passage actually demands a certain meaning, the structure of an organization will also "demand" a certain way of operating.

There has been an emergence of common themes in our discussions over the years: Free Grace needs a collective way to encourage and promote itself. It needs an identity that is not associated with a single individual. Grace needs to involve a broader core of leaders.

In order to match the needed structure with the relevant themes, we believe that the structure needs the following basics:

  1. A broad, yet qualified, membership & associate membership.
  2. A Directing Board of elected leaders.
  3. An Executive Director (& staff) who carries out the wishes of the Board.
  4. Such meetings, committees, and projects as the Directing Board & Bylaws establish.
